Concrete Coating for Stairs
That last place you want to fall is while climbing your stairs. Outdoor stair are frequently covered in hazards. Rain or puddles could make them slick, snow and ice can make them even harder to get a safe grip on. Excessive pine needles or dust could even be enough to keep you from getting a solid footing and send you hurtling toward the earth below.
At Cap Concrete Coatings your safety is our top priority. If you have dangerous outdoor concrete stairs, one great option to help your feet stay firmly planted on the ground is a concrete coating. Smooth concrete can be dangerous, especially after frequent foot traffic has worn down the surface.
A concrete coating will add an extra layer over that smooth concrete. This new layer has an orange peel texture made with aliphatic urethane which, while smooth, still grips surfaces like shoes and car tires. The top coat is just one of a number of layers that will be applied to your stairs to improve their strength, health, and safety.
Repair Existing Damage
As well as making the stairs non-slip and textured, Penntek’s Industrial Coatings installed by CAP Concrete Coatings will repair any existing damage. Before we apply materials we first sand down the existing flooring and add a compound to fill any holes or cracks.
We then sand down the areas where we added more compound so the whole floor has an even finish. This finish is even, but it is not perfectly smooth. This will help the epoxy primer adhere to the stairs better.
Change Color or Texture
Between the layer of epoxy primer and aliphatic urethane topcoat is a layer or “sand” or Polytek Evolution Chips in the desired color. This gives the floor its orange peel texture as well as the color. We offer a wide range of colors from the different sand mixes offered by Polytek, metallic surfaces, and even custom color options. Whatever look you are hoping for your stairs, we can custom mix it for you to make sure it’s perfect.
In less than 24 hours we can come out and apply the Polytek system to your stairs, and they will be walkable same-day! All our residential products carry a 15 year warranty, so you don’t have to worry about freezing or sun damage hurting your investment. If you have some unsightly or dangerous concrete stairs that need some TLC, trust our certified Penntek installers at CAP Concrete Coatings to make your stairs look better than when they were first built. Along with looking beautiful they will be significantly safer when children and grandparents visit.
